Our Community

At Norman Park Community Kindergarten, relationships are at the heart of our kindy program and we recognise the importance of family in children’s lives and as their first and most influential educators. 
 

With diversity to family life means children experience things in different ways. They bring a variety of experiences, perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning. Collaboration and family involvement in our kindy community assists to support children’s growth throughout their kindy year.
Families are given the opportunity to participate in the Circle of Security parenting program, which
educators follow at the kindy to support children and families' attachment and relationships.

Norman Park Community Kindergarten values Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

We believe fostering children's understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander

peoples and cultures, and challenging biases, can positively impact on children's future attitudes

Our kindergarten is actively involved in the wider community with participation in various events such as the Morningside Festival, Clean Up Australia Day with Norman Park State School and regular Bunnings barbecues.

Norman Park Community Kindergarten has been part of the community for over 50 years.
It is managed and run by a Parent Management Committee made up by families of the children enrolled that year.

To ensure our kindy is kept affordable and continues to maintain a strong financial position in the many years to come, we rely on family participation in the Kindy. Over the year it is anticipated each family’s volunteer or contribute approximately eight hours of their time to support our community kindergarten.
With every family having their own unique skills there is a large variety of roles available and an even longer list of helpers required. Participation can be in the form of a Committee position, working bees, washing hand towels or implementing fundraising events (to name a few!). There will be something to suit you.

Visitors may also be invited to share experiences, activities and ‘shows’ with the groups. Some of these incursions may include chicken hatching, cultural performances and Queensland Museum loans.
